Nasa
[Natsuko Sakashita]
I was born and raised in Japan. Soon after moving to the states
in 2001, I got a great interest in web design and started studying
at college along with graphic design, which is one of very
important elements to build up websites. As I studied web/graphic
design, I realized that photography takes a big part and it
makes a huge difference on websites.
When I tried to get quality photos from somewhere like a photo
stock company, I quickly realized it cost a lot, so I started
taking photos by myself for websites. Actually photography
has been one of my longtime hobbies. I've been doing it very
seriously and professionally since January 2006.
I take photos of whatever I feel is attractive but especially
I'm very fascinated by the "inner beauty" of people
and always try to capture the best of what they have inside.
I believe that everyone has inner beauty because in pictures
we see a lot of emotions, which I call it "humanity." I
personally think that when we, as viewers, feel or see the
humanity of people in pictures we can relate and feel close
to those people in some ways, and that pulls the viewer into
the photo. So I really aim for capturing natural moments when
I shoot and I'm so happy when I can capture the best of people.
I haven't won any awards (yet...lol), but I participated in
a self portrait photo show. It was really fun making images
of myself and showing different sides of myself. I think it's
good to be a model some times in order to know what I want
models to be like when posing and giving facial expression.
As I mentioned earlier, I am a web/graphic designer and a
photographer. In addition to it, I'm a huge music lover, so
currently what I would like to do is to take photos of musicians,
design CD covers or posters or that kind of thing, and also
design websites with the photos I take. They are all related
and it's easy for me to work on those as one work flow.
I really hope that I always grow and get better as a photographer
and designer and that I can make people feel great with my
work.
