ILIA (ill-ee-uh)- Hebrew, "God is LORD"

 

Look at them but don’t judge them.  Listen to them but don’t you dare pigeon-hole them. Their slogan is “Rocking the world for Jesus one stage at a time” and rightly so. They don’t come off preachy with their rock.  What comes across is their growing talent and spirit positive riffs and passionate vocals.

 

Out of this passion Ilia was formed in the fall of 2005. Pursing their callings, a couple band members found themselves at Visible school, a music and worship arts college, in Memphis, Tennessee. Not sure of what God had planned for them but willing to be used, the girls of Ilia soon realized God had more in store for them than they had expected.

 

This girl rock group from Pine Bluff, Arkansas have been together for a few years now doing what they love with a whole lot of style and fortitude. You can probably imagine what it’s like trying to get shine as a Christian group.  But we’re not here to remind them of their battles.  We’re here to introduce you to them and their music.

 

Ilia’s newly released EP is hands down a grand listening experience.  They placed # 1 on Ourstage.Com’s Hard Rock channel and #2 in the overall category in September 07.  Leading the way off of this EP is the single “Portrait of a Lying Heart”. They were also voted # 8 by the fans in the CCM Readers Poll of favorite Hard Rock bands.

 

Thier hard rock look flies in the face of what traditional Christians might find acceptable. They have been approached by a couple labels that have wanted to make them over into more presentable pop looking types.  Not happenin. They like what they like, they play what they play. And although they aren’t formally trained they’re working on perfecting their craft like any respectable musician should.
