Jonathan Clay: Back to Good

By: Mut Asheru

Shamefully, this introduction is way past overdue.  We caught a show in Dallas at the House of Blues during the earlier part of this year that touched, entertained and captivated us.  Jonathan Clay sauntered onstage accompanied by fellow artist Steve Means and proceeded to wrap the crowd around his storytelling acoustic guitar fingers.

He performed songs from his albums “Back to Good” and “Whole New Me” all of which were delivered with honest intensity, thoughtful embellishments and funny intimate asides.  Not bad to look at, all the ladies were left staring at him with loved glazed eyeballs.

Born and raised in the Houston area, Jonathan grew up with musical influences surrounding him.  At 15, His father let him borrow a guitar, which Jonathan soon claimed as his own, carrying it to school every day and cutting class to practice.

His debut release, "Whole New Me", was recorded by a friend and garnered quite a bit of attention.  With only seven tracks, this was just a glimpse of the young, developing singer/songwriter.  Songs from "Whole New Me" landed spots in numerous independent films, and nationally broadcasted television series.

Currently residing in Austin, Texas, Jonathan’s latest release “Back to Good” has garnered him even more attention as he finds himself with a steady supply of live shows and a wonderful endorsement by Levi’s.  Jonathan is releasing a digital album on True Anthem which will be available for FREE courtesy of Levi’s.
