By Quincy Jones
How do I do Quincy Jones justice? I can’t. So the next best step is to let him take over and tell you his story in his own words. In the case of his new book “The Complete Quincy Jones; My Journey & Passions” he tells his story not just in words but in pictures, copies of his report cards, old newspaper articles about him or his family, copies of recording session schedules and payments...etc.

This book is a true 3-D experience. A lot of the memorabilia presented is a re-printed facsimile of the things kept in his treasury that allows you to pull it right out of the book and look at his memories in real time.
Everyone who’s read his autobiography knows that this man has seen and done everything. It might be easy to think there is nothing more to learn about him after reading it.
The best way to experience someone is to sit down face to face with them and listen to their story while watching the expression on their faces and listening to the timber and pitch changes in their voice. This book is tantamount to that experience. “My Journey & Passions” provides such a personable glimpse into Mr. Jones’ life it feels like I’m sitting in his living room and he keeps going to the backroom to hurriedly grab memorabilia out his shoeboxes and suitcases in order to accent his journey and accomplishments.
The book sports forwards by Maya Angelou and Clint Eastwood. Bono checks in with an introduction while the wonderful Sidney Poitier finishes the 3-D memoir with a warm flourish.
While it’s not written in the first person, the picture of Quincy Delight Jones Jr’s birth certificate among other treasures draws you into the strong vibrant web that is “Q”. Filled with page after page of his warm smile and the smiles of those around him, this is THE collector’s item.
